Ephin and Coastal Riders held the "BUILD" skate jam at Fleetwood skatepark in Surrey yesterday. Best trick comp, good music, prizes, tons of giveaways from Sharks + Hammers and Ephin Apparel. Monster Energy drinks were free while they lasted. I snapped some photos (click them to see a bigger version). After that I headed back to Vancouver with Tyler and Shane, then we went to go shoot photos. Jamie, Billy, and Q came too. Then the worst nightmare happened... one of my flashes broke... Tyler's board hit a light stand, it was near a wall... when it wobbled, the flash smashed into the wall :(

Yesterday I met up with Tyler Holm, Kyu Tae Kim, Jamie Walker, and Billy Mitchell. Went to the post office rail. Jamie was lofting front 360s over it, Tyler pogo'd his groin, and ripped open his knee and elbow. Here's some photos:

As of today, I've been living in Vancouver for one year! Yesterday morning I was waiting at the bus stop, and some guy came up to me... standing really close to me... asks me if I know of "any liquor stores that are easy". I thought he meant one that doesn't ID or something like that, he was really sketchy... I didn't want to come off the wrong way, so I just went along with him, and said there was one down the road. He then told me that he meant a liquor store that he could rob... he said he robbed the BC Liquor down the road last week, and said he got caught by the k9 unit, and showed me dog bite wounds and stitches on his arm. He said he was on the prowl to get drunk... thankfully the bus came and I left. Really sketchy.
I went to Mount Seymour with TJ and Jason today. We were watching the Word of Mouth 2009 video on Gnarcore the other day, so we had to go ride the setup and take photos.

The Boardroom and The Youth of North Vancouver held the Cityfest 102 Skate Jam at Lonsdale skatepark yesterday. A ton of people showed up! There was lots of skateboarding, free BBQ, cotton candy, prizes, more skateboarding, and a few broken boards. Everyone threw down sick tricks! There was three categories; beginner, intermediate, and advanced. They also had a best trick jam down the double set (and rail), and the 10 set (rail and hubba). I took lots of photos, met lots of people, and got a nice red neck by the end of the day. Lots of fun!

Changed the site around a bit yesterday, made it so the photos and the blog are together, that way people see everything all on the main page, rather then looking at photos then not knowing where to go. Makes things easier.
Met up with Jordan Repin, Kyu Tae Kim, Tyler Holm, Brody Mutch, Billy Mitchell, and Ryan Smith yesterday. We went to New West to film and take photos. Got the boot at Douglas College before we even sat down. Then they were skating this ledge outside of an apartment's parking garage, and one of the tennants wasn't happy that were were skateboarding on his building... he parked his PT Cruiser in the way of the ledge so we couldn't skate it, and was calling the cops... while people in the building and across the road were all yelling at him to let us skate. Tyler gave him some kind words, it was really funny if you were there.
After we eventually left that spot we went looking for spots. A bunch of guys got sushi while I took a photo of Jordan, then we went to skate this 7 set down the road. I've been there before with Jordan and met Brian Noppe because he lives in the building (Feb 20th post), he happened to hear us skateboarding again so he came outside and shot a few group photos of us. That spot is the best, everyone in the building loved us skating there... people would come out and watch and ask us questions... weird, because it seems like a retirement type area. It got dark quick and right as we were leaving Jason Louden, the sales rep for ULC Skateboards came up to us with a stack of decks... $25 bucks each... weird how we had snapped decks and he just comes out of nowhere with brand new decks for us. It was cool meeting him especially because JF is sponsored by ULC.

Had a really bad fever last night, couldn't sleep... this is the sickest I've been in a long time. Bought a 12 pack of popsicles, hopefully the sickness goes away. Met up with JF Lessard today to reshoot a photo while Pat Tremblay got his wrists tattooed. When we got to the spot, rain started to spit... we set up anyways, but by the time we were about to take the photo it started to pour on us. Snapped a photo of JF then he went to plaza with Pat, I got a hotdog/drink at Costco, then I went home to enjoy my popsicles.

Adam Hopkins came over last night, he was really hungry and saw the KFC across the road. He went over there to get some food, we were thinking he was only going to get one of the Toonie Tuesday combos, but he ended up getting four of them, with two extra poutines... comes back with a huge bag and pretty much eats it all.
We played some skate 2 on ps3, then he stayed over. I woke up today sick with a sore throat, great. I haven't been sick in a long time. TJ had it a few days ago, so I probably got it from him. Jason shaved Adam's head this morning, here is a before and after:

The Gnar Side of the Tracks contest was yesterday at Railside skatepark in Port Coquitlam. It was pouring rain the night before, so everyone was iffy on it, but in the morning it was all sunny and awesome outside. I went with my roommate Jason and Adam Hopkins, we were a little late thanks to Sunday bus hours... but we eventually made it.
We encountered the funniest bus driver ever on the way, he was using his megaphone thing to make bird sounds, and was talking about strawberries to this little boy and made him cry. One of those "you had to be there" moments.
Lots of people showed up to the contest. Shaw TV came out to film too. It started out with the little guys then moved up to the advanced level... everyone ripped! I was shooting photos as usual... it was hard though because the park is so big, everyone flew around in their runs, I had to switch lenses a million times depending on what they were skating, the sun kept going behind clouds so I had to change camera settings for every obstacle, and I didn't have a clue what tricks they were going to do... so it was all guessing game for me.
It's 9:30am right now, and I haven't gone to bed yet... been editing and uploading these photos for you guys, hopefully you like them:

It rained today... so did some photo editing and chilled out at home. Here is a photo from a little while ago (Nov 18th) that I didn't put up, and is so gnarly:

Jordan Repin called me up yesterday to shoot some photos at UBC with him, Kyu Tae Kim, Tyler Holm, Scott, and Ryan. It was my first time ever going to UBC... even though I've been in Vancouver for almost a year now. When I first got there I didn't know where to go to meet them so I had to ask a million people for directions. There is so many spots there, it's crazy. It was my first time meeting Kyu Tae, he kills it with the video camera. He filmed a few lines, then I shot some photos of Tyler... doing tricks I've never seen done before. After kicking it there for a bit, we headed to their place to chill. Some freestyle went down with a few of the guys. Fun times.
