Worked today from 10-4, then went out to shoot some photos before it got too dark. Met up with Tyler Gaucher, Caleb Davies, and filmer Ryan Smith. Tried shooting a sequence of Tyler but it got too dark and we decided to leave. I snapped a still of it because I wanted to use the new flash. Yeah I know there's motion blur (Caleb was skating the other side of the ledge, so I didn't want to have a rim flash on the top)... I only took two shots and just guessed with everything, so I think I did pretty good:
Went to Futureshop today to pay off the TV... which was the last thing on my debt list! Starting tomorrow I'll be working 3 shifts a week, so I'll have more photos for you soon. I'm buying a Quantum Q-Flash T2 with Turbo battery on Wednesday, stoked... not as stoked as this kid though:
Sorry I haven't updated the blog in a week... I've been working pretty much every day. Next week and on I'll be working 3 shifts a week, so I'll be able to shoot photos again and update the site.
Tyler Holm has been having some bad luck lately, first it started with this:
...then we thought skating on the ice rink with a filmer board would be cool, but he ended up smashing his knee pretty bad:
...then the handrail at plaza wasn't being very nice and left him with this:
I see so many people come through everyday... I encounter some really funny people, as well as the rude ones. Everyone loves Pop Rocks from the looks of it, one guy wanted them because he was really high, another lady said she likes them for oral sex... A few homeless guys come in with change for fives, some people want candy that doesn't even exist, everyone makes a mess with the bulk candy, and the jelly bellies. I've worked 33 hours already, time flies so fast, and I feel so more energetic now from being friendly and talking to a lot of people. It feels good.
I bought a Sekonic L-508 light meter a week ago, came in the mail yesterday... stoked. I won't be working as much now because my training days are over, so I'll actually have some time to skate and shoot photos. It's starting to get colder out now and the rainy days are starting to show up... but with rain comes snow, which means snowboarding will be around the corner in no time. I dislocated my elbow first day out snowboarding last season, so I only got to ride twice. I bought a seasons pass to Seymour this year, so I'm excited to actually be able to ride.
